ABOUT US
LESSNESS is a noun suffix that means "nothing". The successive births and collisions of art discourses have led to the emergence of more exciting narratives, while at the same time bringing about the gradual shaping of the collective discourse and consciousness within the industry. As an art self-organization with a multi-centered participant map, we invite artists, curators, art historians, critics, art organizations, and art collectives to participate in thematic curation, exhibition production, publication distribution, and community building. LESSNESS uses such a seemingly discrete and fading title to revisit and explore traces of individual strength and resistance, topple the walls of media forms, weave new discourses of multilingual spontaneity, and expose the overlapping and twisting of new orders and new disorders.
By uniting artists, curators, art history researchers and art organizations, LESSNESS intends to launch a momentum of humorous provocations, speaking a contemporary allegory of lightness to heaviness, joy to reflection in experimental multi-disciplinary art and public participatory art. LESSNESS paves guerrilla trails through exhibitions, publications and community-building ecologies with the aim of gathering people and objects that escape order in the collective unconscious; and with progressively lighter visual appearance, we intend to encroach on boundaries and formal limitations of art, looking back at the ruptures and overflowing streams.
OUR STORY
LESSNESS was initiated by independent curator Rui Jiang and Multi-disciplinary artist Lucia Shuyu Li. We are committed to finding more art industry practitioners who are provocative to the medium, form and discourse of art to build a polycentric art community that breaks down the walls of art's traditional form and thought worship.

The narrative space of the book as text also becomes part of our curatorial practice, where we collaborate with artists and industry practitioners in the multi-media field to build multilingual, reflective, and provocative book spaces.
